Shanghai Tower tops out

Shanghai Tower is 632 m (2073 ft) tall, and is the second-tallest building in the world. It will be finished in 2014.  The list of the tallest buildings in the world now stands as follow:

  1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai, 828m (2010) 
  2. Shanghai Tower, 632m (2014).
  3. Abraj Al Bait, Mekka (Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower), 601m (2011) 
  4. One World Trade Center, New York, 541m (2013) 
  5. Taipei 101, Taipei, 509m (2004) 
  6. Shanghai World Financial Center, 492m (2008) 
  7. International Commerce Center, Hongkong, 484m (2010) 
  8. Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, 452m (1998) 
  9. Greenland Financial Center (aka Zifeng Tower), Nanjing, 450m (2010) 
  10. Willis Tower (Sears Tower), Chicago, 442m (1974) 
  11. Kingkey 100, Shenzhen, 442m (2011) 
There are only 5 buildings in the world that are 500m (1640 ft) or taller, but that will change soon.

The Lotte World Tower in Seoul (556m) should be completed in 2015.
