The
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower is 700 feet tall, and was built in 1909. It was the tallest building in the world, until the completion of
the Woolworth Building in 1913. Today it is being converted into a Mariott hotel.
A new 100-story tower to the north was planned, but only the first 32 floors were built.
