Top Cities in the World in 1920

Here is my ranking of the top cities in the world in 1920, based mostly, but not solely on population.  Population in millions in parentheses.  The rankings are similar today.

1. London (7.2 million)
2. New York (5.6).  Surpassed London in 1925.
3. Paris (5.0)
4. Tokyo (4.2)
5. Berlin (4.0)
6. Rhine-Ruhr (Ruhrgebiet) (3.7)
7. Chicago (3.3)
8. Manchester, UK (2.3)
9. Philadelphia (2.3)
10. Buenos Aires (2.2)
11. Boston (2.2)
12. Osaka, Japan (1.9)
13. Vienna, Austria (1.8)
14. Shanghai, China (1.7)
15. Birmingham, UK (1.7)
16. Glasgow, UK (1.6). (The Glasgow LUZ today has 1.7 million, so this has barely grown since).
17. Detroit (1.2).  (Grew to over 2 million by 1930).
18. Pittsburgh (1.2)
19. Rio de Janeiro (1.3)
20. Calcutta, India (1.8)

Los Angeles had a population of only 800,000 in 1920.  Peking (Beijing) had only 900,000.  Moscow had 950,000.
