Xianggang

(he) means "cereal, grain"

(gan) means "sweet"

(xiang) combines the two and means "sweet food", also "fragrant, savory, appetizing, scented"

(gong) means "hands joined", or "pair of hands"

(shi) means "ten"

廿 (nian) means "twenty".  It is ten doubled.

(gong) means "twenty pairs of hands".  Also "all, all together, common, general" 

(yi) means "city"

(xiang) means "lane,alley" and is a city area open to all

(shui) means "water, river"

(gang) means "harbor".  It combines water and lane.

香港 (xiang-gang) thus means "fragrant harbor" and is the Chinese name of Hong Kong.  This is so commonly used that the second character by itself ("harbor") also refers to Hong Kong.
