Zhongguo

Chinese is becoming very important and we will have to learn some of it.  So here are the first characters to learn.  I am making them big so they are easier to see.

(wei) is an enclosure.

(zhong) is a line bisecting an enclosure.

(huo) means "region"

(guo) means "country", or "nation".

(yu) means "Jade".

(guo) is an alternate form which also means country.

中国 (zhong-guo) means "China".  Also 中國

(wen) means "language, writing, or country".

(zhong-wen) means "Chinese language".  Zhongwen.com is a website about Chinese characters.

by itself also means "Chinese".
