This ordinance is from Louis the Pious, the son of Charlemange. It supposedly mentions the year 817. Again, I don't know if the original document was in Latin or French (or German), which library it was in or who translated it. Was the year in Roman numerals or spelled out? Or perhaps added later.
Update: The year 870 is mentioned in this document: Treaty at Aix Between Louis II and Charles the Bald Concerning the Division of the Kingdom of Lothar II A.D. 870.
