1. Juice. Orange juice, apple juice, grapefruit juice. Just eat the fruit instead.
2. Diet sodas. They raise your insulin level. "When you taste the sweet in diet soda, your body perceives it as sugar and causes the pancreas to release insulin just as it would if you were consuming actual sugar."
3. Sports drinks and enhanced water. Just drink water.
4. Skim milk. It has reduced fat, but not reduced carbs. It still has all the lactose. Just drink water.
5. Breakfast cereals. They have lots of sugar and corn syrup and empty calories. Just eat oatmeal.
6. Fat-free salad dressing. It has lots of sugar and corn syrup. Stick to olive oil and vinegar.
7. Yogurt and Frozen yogurt. Lots of sugar. (Unless it is plain and unsweetened).
8. Fat-free or low-fat cookies and candy. Fat-free anything. Ditto. Just say no to cookies and eat a cucumber instead.
9. Protein bars. Ditto. Just eat some dark chocolate instead.
10. Cottage cheese. Contains corn starch.
Honorable mention:
Smoothies. Lots of fat and sugar.
Granola. Ditto.
Trail mix. Ditto.
Turkey burgers. These are no healthier than hamburgers.
Vegetable chips. There are no healthier than potato chips.
